I started the day in TT-3 but seeing how fast Ben was, I had a better chance at winning tires by moving up to the faster class of TT-2. I won both days in the TT-2 class but was still 2-3 seconds behind Ben. Here is a video of my fastest lap (2:33.2), taken from Sunday's second session:
Ben's fastest lap:
Below are 2 pics of the data.
The lower left screen shows the track map marked into 14 segments.
The lap starts at the blue arrow in front of clubhouse.
That section is marked in the main chart as "S1" meaning straight 1.
T2 is next, making up the bulk of the mushroom.
so on and so on until you get to all 14 segments.
My previous best last year was 2:37 but that was with the start/finish on the north straight.
But now that I moved the start finish to line up with official scoring at the clubhouse straight, that 2:37 turned into a 2:39.
Sunday's best was a 2:33.2. So how did i lop off 6 seconds? See the data below.
The red highlighted #1 column are my lap times/sector times from last years 2:39.
The gray highlighted #2 columns are my times from last weekends 2:33.
Green highlights mean "fastest" segment.
"Target" row means fastest theoretical lap if i linked all my fastest segments together from various laps.
So my 2:39 from last year could have been a 2:38 and my 2:33 last weekend could have been a 2:32.
Lap 3 from both outings seems to be my fastest lap so that should make it easy to look across that line to compare segment times.
Segment 1: on members straight, entering the mushroom:
I improved that section by .75 seconds; must be a better start into the section and the later braking. I was still early braking because there is no run off there. Once this weekend, my foot slipped off the brake during heel/toe and I went straight into the grass. I can improve here by late braking if i get the courage.
Segment 2: the bottom of the mushroom including "patience" turn:
Improved about .45 seconds. My line stayed the same but I think the entered the section faster.
Segment 3: the uphill esses:
Improved by .20
Segment 4: carousel:
improved by .47 seconds probably from increased speed in the turn, helped by the stickier tires.
Top speed at end of main straight went up from 145.6 last year (on 4th gear rev limiter) to 150.0 this past weekend (grabbing 5th after the kink).
More aggressive leaving kryptos - On the right side curbing after kryptos (way before the hairpin), my speed from last year was 102 and this year it was 112.5. Credit my confidence in the stickier tires for that.
Clubhouse straight terminal velocity last year was 119.7 and this year was 126.0.
Saturday Podium and interview. 2nd place was c6 z06 (2:40) and 3rd was Nissan GTR:
Sunday Podium: Thai in 3rd place with white EVO and 2nd place was 600 hp GTR (hitting 164 mph at end of straight). I hit 150.0 and Ben hit 150.6.
